Pizza Tour of Coral Gables

There’s something so magical about that timeless combination of dough, tomato sauce and cheese. You can never have too much pizza and in Downtown Coral Gables, you’ll never run out of pies to try.

Take a pizza tour of Coral Gables and start with these slices from our local pizzerias:

California Pizza Kitchen

At California Pizza Kitchen, a family friendly restaurant located on Miracle Mile, you can order much more than pizza, but that doesn’t mean you should skip their eponymous pies. Get the Original BBQ Chicken Pizza, created at California Pizza Kitchen in 1985, it’s a legendary pizza with topping that transform it from a regular old pizza pie into a zesty meal. The pizza is topped with BBQ sauce, smoked Gouda, red onions and fresh cilantro.

They’ve never bothered much with sticking to tradition at California Pizza Kitchen, and now, they’ve introduced some trendy and healthy new crust options to the menu including cauliflower and gluten free options.

P.Pole Pizza

This new concept on Miracle Mile lets you take your pizza into your own hands, not literally, they’ll still toss it into an oblong shape, kind of like a skateboard, for you, but you get to pick unlimited toppings for just $9.

At P.Pole Pizza you’ll be overwhelmed, in the best way possible, with the options to individualize your pizza. Start with the choice between standard dough and chia infused and then move onto sauces like tomato, pesto, alfredo and more. Next, you select from the “Pre Toppings” menu including flavors-packed options like artichokes, jalapeños, pineapple, gorgonzola, spicy sausage, anchovies and many more. Last, finish it off with basil, arugula, olives and other “Post Toppings.”

Pummarola Pizza

This tiny family-run pizza place on Aragon brings the traditions of Rosa Donna Rummo, an Italian grandmother who started the first Pummarola restaurant in Naples, Italy in 1968, to Coral Gables. Her four grandchildren opened this pizza shop nearly forty years later in her memory – and lucky us!

Order a traditional 9’’ Neapolitan pizza made in their wood fire oven. We recommend a true classic, the Margherita with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil and basil. For something funkier and even more flavor packed, try the Cream di Tartufo, truffled mushroom cream, Italian ham, mushrooms and mozzarella. Add a side of the sauteed eggplant funghetto, a delicious saucy side that really highlights the flavor of the eggplant and finish it off with a nutella pizza.

Spritz Pizzeria e Ristorante

At Spritz, you can indulge in all the quintessential dishes of Italy – pastas, fish, chicken, and, of course, pizzas. Try the Pizza Spritz, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, scamorza cheese, mushrooms and spicy salami, made right in their coal fire oven. Enjoy your pizza under the large scale black and white photos of vintage Italy and wash it down with a bottle of Italian wine.

Join Spritz for the signature “Beat The Clock” happy hour. Order a pizza from their specials menu including Pizza Margherita, Pizza Diavola, and Pizza Romana, and you’ll pay the price of the hour and the minutes; for example, if it’s 5:17 you’ll pay $5.17. It starts at 5 PM and ends at 6:30 PM sharp, so the early bird gets the pie!

Lorenzo Pizza

Locals are raving over Lorenzo Pizza’s authentic Argentine style pizza and the rest of their tasty menu, too. Located on popular Giralda Plaza, you can enjoy their alfresco dining whether you’re on an intimate date night or are a big party after a soccer game. Lorenzo is a place where you can indulge in a pizza, like their Mushroom Pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and mushrooms, alongside an empanada or a hearty salad.

Pomodoros Pizza

Tucked away on Galiano, Pomodoros is a best kept secret for casual Italian favorites like pastas, subs, wraps, calzones, strombolis and pizzas. If you’re looking to hang out for a while in a low key spot, or pick up a 10’’, 12’’, 16’’ or 18’’ pie to go, this is the place for you. Go for the Soprano Pizza, with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, caramelized onion, roasted red peppers and pepperoni or pick from your own selection of classic pizza toppings.

Terre del Sapore

Terre del Sapore is a new restaurant on Giralda Avenue serving a range of internationally and seasonal inspired plates – plus a delicious pizza menu. Their 12’’ pizzas are made in their wood fire oven. The menu includes simple favorites and all the much revered ingredients of typically Italian pizzas like prosciutto cotto, porchetta, fontina, San Marzano tomato sauce and more.

Consider Terre Del Sapore as an option for your corporate events, special occasion celebrations and holiday dinners. Their staff is there to make your experience as memorable as possible and host your event with the finest Italian service and hospitality.
